Locanda Vivaldi Hotel
Located in an unbeatable location, in Riva degli Schiavoni overlooking the San Marco Basin
Hotel Locanda Vivaldi was inaugurated at the end of 1999, after a painstaking and long restructuring work on this beautiful building, adjacent to the Church of Pietà. Here used to live the composer Antonio Vivaldi, who in 1703 was ordained priest and also started to work as a violin teacher in the Pietà conservatory, where he remained until 1740.
After only six months of priesthood, Vivaldi decided to no longer celebrate mass even if he keeped on his cassock. He was nicknamed as "the Red Priest" and Goldoni explained that he was called so because of his fire-red hair colour. According to other resource, this name was given him because of his permanence at the Pietà Institute, where the “daughters” of this hospice, his pupils, used to wear scarlet colour.
We are located in the historic center of Venice, right in front of the San Marco basin, a few steps from Piazza San Marco, the heart of Venice! All the places you would like to visit are outside our door: Piazza San Marco, the Basilica of San Marco and its bell tower, the island of San Giorgio, Rialto with its market and shopping center, the Accademia museum, Peggy Guggenhein, the Biennale, the Arsenale museum, the Lido of Venice and its beaches, the Teatro della Fenice. All this is close to us! And of course restaurants and bars are around the corner!
Our restaurant is located on its panoramic terrace, for the exclusive use of the customers of our three hotels. The view from this place full of history is
absolutely breathtaking. It spans 180 degrees on the San Marco Basin, from the gardens of Sant'Elena to the Lido, from the island of San Servolo to the island of
San Giorgio, from the Giudecca island to Punta della Dogana, the Grand Canal and Palazzo Ducale. From here, even focusing only on the churches (San Giorgio, Zitelle, Redentore, Salute) you can admire almost six centuries of Venetian architectural history. From here you can admire the frenzy of the shore and the comings
and goings of gondolas and boats of all shapes and sizes, but without being seen by anyone else and above all far from the confusion. The atmosphere is intimate (seats
are about 25) and familiar. It is a unique and exclusive place to share with family, friends and loved ones. Where to celebrate with a glass of wine, where you can
eat a traditional Venetian dish or simply where you can relax with a dessert after a day spent visiting Venice.
We also have the restaurant at Palazzo Stern in Dorsoduro, with a beautiful view of the Grand Canal, accessible exclusively to customers of our three hotels.
Our chef, Antonio, will surprise you with his always different and always Venetian dishes with small variations on the theme related to the flavors of his native land. Book your evening now with our concierge, places are limited!
