Castello di Velona Resort, Thermal Spa & Winery is a historical property, a renovated fortress dating back from the XIth century, located on a hilltop
overlooking the entire Val d'Orcia, in Tuscany. Located 8 km from Montalcino, the castle overlooks the peaceful Val d’Orcia, a landscape of olive trees and vineyards which produce the world-famous wine Brunello of Montalcino. From the Castello di Velona, you will be able to visit the famous towns of Siena, Pienza, Montepulciano, San Quirico d’Orcia, Bagno Vignoni as well as the extraordinary beautiful Abbeys of Sant’Antimo and Monte Oliveto Maggiore.

The OLISPA is a true oasis of wellness and relaxation where one can fully regenerate its body, mind and spirit. Distributed over an area of 1500 sq. the OLISPA comprises five elegant treatment rooms with view of the Val d’Orcia, Wet Area with two Turkish baths, a panoramic sauna, ice fountain and the emotional showers that stimulate all senses through aromatherapy and chromotherapy. Furthermore, half of our rooms own natural hot thermal water directly into a dedicated tap in their private bathtub. Inside the Spa, guests will find a very private bath with Jacuzzi in the wet area, and a larger circular pool connected by a small tunnel to the outdoor pools, to comfortably swim outside in the water embrace. The five treatment cabins, two Turkish baths, sauna and ‘emotional showers’, just as all the treatments on offer, from body and face massages to scrubs and packs, are designed to offer sensory delights and total relaxation.

Our rooms have been designed with two different concepts: Monumental Rooms (with the original Castle Tuscan style furnishing) and UNESCO View Rooms
(with a contemporary style, all with hot natural thermal water in their bathtubs and a private patio with a sunset breathtaking view). Half of our rooms own natural hot thermal water directly into a dedicated tap in their private bathtub. Some rooms in the main building are accessible only by stairs and some can be
reached with a path partially protected from the rain.

With the aromas of the herbs and spices and typical colours of the Tuscan countryside, the vineyards and olive groves surrounding the castle, the hotel’s wine and food offer fully satisfy the body and soul, both in the rustic Il Brunello in the historical part of the castle, and in the modern setting of the Settimo Senso Restaurant,
created in the new wing. The rooms inside look onto the val d’orcia thanks to the panoramic terraces of the Castle’s two restaurants, one to the east, exposed to the
first rays of the sun, the other to the west, pointing towards the sunset. Here guests experience complete sensory emotions, immersed in the silence and romance of the landscape, sampling fine wines and the olive oil produced by the castle estate, and tasting the specialties of regional Tuscan and Mediterranean Italian cuisine, a blend of creativity in the kitchen and respect for the seasons and for genuine ingredients.

Brunello di Montalcino, produced in the 5 hectares of vineyards on the estate, is top of the wine list, to be tasted in the internal cloister, the veritable hub of Velona Castle, enclosed overhead by a glass dome. There is also the Dolce Vita Pool Restaurant, in the swimming pool and wellness area, where at any time of day it is possible to find a refreshing drink, aperitif, barbecue, pizza and other tasty dishes.
 

With 11 restaurants (3 inside the Resort and 8 outside) and its own production of Brunello wine and extra virgin olive oil, Castello di Velona is ideal for enjoying the best of Italian food and wine culture. We are the only Resort in Tuscany with a Dine Around program: our customers have the possibility to use the half-board package also outside the Resort in the 8 partner restaurants, of which two are Michelin star rated.
